Conservatory Construction Diary

Following a survey and decision on the specification for your new conservatory, all the material will be manufactured to your specific requirements. When everything is ready, our professional installation team will install your new conservatory typically following the fitting sequence laid out on these pages. Step 1

The conservatory base is marked out and the footings are dug to a depth of 1 metre. If the foundations are not sufficiently deep, the resulting sinking of conservatories, particularly in clay soils, can require a complete re-build of a conservatory within a few years of initial construction.

Step 2

The concrete footings are laid to create a solid foundation for the conservatory.

Step 3

An important step in the building of conservatories is to ensure that adequate drainage exists. If it does not then the drains are improved.

Step 4

The base is laid with a built-in damp proof membrane. This membrane is a building requirement and prevents damp from the soil seeping up into your new conservatory.

Step 5

The side walls of the conservatory are built up from the foundations, and the exterior of the conservatory is tidied up, ready for the frame to be installed.

Step 6

The timber or PVCu conservatory frames are fixed to the solid foundations and brickwork.

Step 7

The roof of the conservatory is then built on the side frames.

Step 8

Finally the conservatory is glazed to allow the interior to be finished.

Timescales

Installation of conservatories can take up to 6 weeks depending on the size and style of the conservatory, and the type of flooring chosen:

  1. Basework prepared and laid: 5 days
  2. Conservatory fitting: 1-5 days
  3. Sand and cement floor screed: 1 day
  4. Drying out time: up to 4 weeks
  5. Electrics and plumbing: 1-2 days
  6. Floor laying: 1-2 days
