Our secure windows lock 5 ways

A window fitted with a shoot bolt, high security friction hinge and an automatically locking handle, secures the window to the frame at 5 different points. At the turn of a handle, a central deadlock or cams locate into the frame, whilst high strength bolts lock into keeps positioned in the top and bottom corners of the frame. The friction hinge locks into the outer corners, making it impossible to force the window and greatly enhancing the weathering seal.

Front doors and French doors can be secure too.

With an entrance door, security is supported by a centre deadlock and heavy-duty hooks, clamping the door together. High security hinges complete the picture. For French doors, the unique security system gives you robust hooks, shoots and deadbolts for a criminal-defying 7-point locking system.

Secured by Design

In addition to the high standards applied to all the products we install, the GBW Discovery range of composite doors have been approved to the 'Secured by Design' standard, a UK Police flagship initiative supporting the principles of "designing out crime" by use of effective crime prevention and security standards for a range of applications. This means that, in addition to the standard BS PAS 23-1 and PAS 24-1 accreditation all doors must have the following features:

  • Door latch
  • Minimum 3 locking points - standard multipoint lock
  • Laminated Glass
  • Outward opening doors must have hinge bolts as standard
  • A door chain or opening limiter must be fitted
  • A door viewer must be fitted if obscure glass is used
  • Letter plates must not allow access to key
  • Latch must only be released using key i.e. split spindle

More details on the GBW Discovery Door Secured by Design license may be found on the Secured By Design website.
